[CLOSED] Dud’s on the Range

Gilmer’s only sports bar and grill has moved into town! An extension of Duds on the lake, Dud’s on the Range has a nice menu that includes breakfast, standard “bar and grill” type fare but stepped up to almost a gourmet level for some offerings. Menu (from their official site is below).

Dud’s is a great place to watch a football game on a large screen and enjoy an alcoholic beverage, you can have fresh fried catfish or a burger and fries, you can even have amazing hand made pizzas and follow it up with a mouth-watering dessert. At La Carreta, they want you to have fun! All of the dishes are authentically prepared. And you can choose your level spice (hot or EXTRA hot) Only the best ingredients are used at La Carreta. In my opinion, they have the best red salsa (for the table tortilla chips) in town.

UPDATE: As of July 31 2022 this location has closed, much to the dismay of its many local fans. If we hear of these folks opening a new location I will update this site. If you hear anything before us – let us know! Here is their Facebook post below:

Gilmer’s very own brewery, as you might have guessed from the name. As I scanned the reviews I counted 3 “love this place” and 3 “good food” right off the bat. I have friends that come here all the time, and it’s always nice to have live music right in town.

According to their website they also offer special events from time to time and also provide private parties and events upon request. And they offer a variety of eats to go with your brew. Not your typical “bar food”, we’ll provide a range of tasty treats & snacks. They encourage a family friendly atmosphere with a nice open area a free games to play.

And every beer they serve is made right there in house, you have to stop by!

Gilmer’s ONLY sports Bar and Grill. Watch the game on one of the 13 65′ inch screens. Pub style, featuring a bar menu, variety of amazing sandwiches, as well as chicken fried steak, salmon, salad, and thick cut steaks to start.

Dud’s on the Lake has a wide variety of items on the menu, a full service bar and local specialty drinks. Happy Hour is celebrated from 4PM-6PM daily, BOGO drinks! Dud’s is a private club that is required to have membership in order to sell alcohol in this precinct of Upshur County. You may buy your membership at Dud’s for $3.00 for one year of membership. La Finca – Mexican Food Restaurant

Drive down 271 on a Sunday and you’d think La Finca is the only place open in the county from the number of cars and trucks parked all over the block.

La Finca is definitely a staple of Gilmer Texas cuisine. From humble beginnings, they have a building built brand new from the ground up after bulldozing the old one that had been added on to over the years. It’s a beautiful place that seats quite a few people. Official website.

Standard Tex-mex menu for the most part with a few surprises, and they have a bar. I recommend the green salsa over the red salsa with the chips.
