Gilmer Texas has been around a long time. It’s not the biggest city on the map, but it’s a fine place to call home.

Surrounded by the tall trees and many lakes of East Texas as I-20 and I-30 head closer to the borders of Louisiana and Arkansas, it’s easy to see why more people are moving here each year.

Far from the traffic and bustle that larger cities like Dallas or Houston promise, but just close enough to the amenities of the fair sized cities of Tyler and Longview – you get the benefits of small town life with none of the drawbacks.

However… if it’s not on main street … it’s hard to find for visitors. That’s the purpose of this site!

I want to make it easy for people who are wondering what there is to do in Gilmer Texas and to find what they are looking for when they visit this area – whether you are here for the East Texas Yamboree or to check out the trails on Barnwell Mountain – as well as for those of us who live here to discover new things we’ve been missing. You might be surprised, I know I have been!

We have wineries, a brewery, hand made pizza, real Czech kolachies not far away, amazing BBQ (of course), insane combo dishes at some of the places that have popped up in recent years, excellent shrimp and crawfish that rivals what I’ve had on the bayou. And if you want steak or catfish or burgers, there’s choices here that I would pit against just any I’ve tried anywhere.

So have a look around, find a place to have lunch or grab a drink, get some crawfish, or grab a beer with some chips and salsa!

Sounds like a good time to me! And you have plenty of choices.
